SPORTS BIGS MENTORING PROGRAM
At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Sacramento Area, we believe in the power and promise of the next generation. Our Sports Bigs program is designed to connect mentors and youth through the universal language of sports, fitness, and active play.
These active, life-changing relationships rely on our entire community's teamwork to succeed. From providing safety background checks and equipment to securing local game-day experiences, it takes a dedicated team to keep our youth moving toward their full potential

SHARING THE LOVE OF THE GAME
The Sports Bigs program pairs active adult mentors ("Bigs") with local youth ("Littles") who share a passion for being active. Matches meet 2 to 4 times a month to play basketball at a local park, toss a baseball, go for bike rides, play soccer, and much more!
You don’t need to be a professional athlete to make a difference—you just need to be a reliable mentor who is ready to encourage healthy habits, build resilience, and teach the value of teamwork.
PARTNERSHIPS ON AND OFF THE COURT
Beyond playing sports together, our agency partners with local sports organizations throughout the Greater Sacramento area to provide matches with unique opportunities. Bigs and Littles regularly get to experience professional and collegiate sports games together, participate in group clinics, and enjoy local stadium events.
These shared sports experiences provide a deep sense of belonging and confidence. Mentored youth build critical social-emotional skills that help them succeed on the court, in the classroom, and in life.
